The Parish Paper is a monthly newsletter authored by Herb Miller, Lyle Schaller and Cynthia Woolever offering ideas and insights for active congregations.

The Parish Paper is provided to ELCA mission centers in Nebraska through the Nebraska Synod. The paper may be downloaded and redistributed as follows:

Mission centers/congregations within the Synod may distribute copies of The Parish Paper to staff and members via e-mail, postal, newspaper, newsletter, meetings, training events and this web page.

Mission centers/congregations within the Synod may photocopy or electronically distribute for local use as many copies of The Parish Paper as it needs, post them on their respective websites and quote sentences and paragraphs.

The purpose of Fill Spill Thrill is to offer resources, thoughts and guidance to mission centers, congregations and members of the Nebraska Synod that we hope will enhance their ability to carry out ministry locally. To that end, we welcome comments from our readers on the ideas expressed in this online newsletter.

We want this site to be a safe and comfortable place for readers to express themselves. In order to make the dialogue on this site as constructive and productive as possible, there are a few guidelines we follow for posting comments to postings:

  • Thoughts and ideas expressed in comments must be respectful of the author and others and must be offered in the spirit of Christian love.
  • Thoughts and ideas expressed in comments must not be offensive in nature in any way. The moderator will use his/her best judgment to the best of their ability to ensure that comments are not offensive to our readers.
  • Comments must be on topic and not using the article to discuss issues not raised by the article in question.
  • Facts used in comments must be accurate. Comments containing information is that patently and obviously false will be deleted or rejected.
  • Comments must not contain commercial advertising or promotion.

All comments submitted on this site are moderated in an effort to enforce these guidelines. The moderator will use his/her best discretion and judgment in moderating comments and reserves the right to reject or delete any comment that does not meet all of the above guidelines.
